Don’t Have Time for a Spa Day? Think Again

All goddesses need to make time for a spa day. This post is for those who don’t think they have the time or think that having a spa day is too self-indulgent. Do you remember the fable about the farmer with the goose that laid the golden eggs?

The goose that laid the golden egg

In the story, a farmer went out to his barn one morning and discovered his goose had laid a golden egg. He was delighted and used the egg to buy a few things he wanted and needed.

Every day when he went to the barn, the goose had laid another golden egg which he gleefully gathered and used for his wants and needs. As time went on he decided he wanted all the eggs instead of waiting for one a day so he killed the goose to take all of her eggs. When he opened up the goose, he discovered there were no eggs in her. He had killed the goose and now there would be no more golden eggs.

You are the goose. You are the creator of the golden eggs. What are those eggs? Maybe you support yourself and/or your family both financially and psychologically. Many goddesses do. Maybe you donate time to your community or your favorite charity. If it weren’t for you, the goose, these golden eggs, the benefits, wouldn’t be possible. Beautiful goddesses this is why you need a spa day.

Care for the goose first

A spa day is a way to care for the goose. It will help you de-stress and stay healthy. If you drive the goose too hard and try to force her

to give you too many golden eggs, she may not be able to produce those eggs at all.

It’s why a spa day can be totally self indulgent and it should be. Everyone needs to pull away from their work and responsibilities periodically to rejuvenate. If you don’t think you have enough time for a spa day, think of it this way, you don’t have time NOT to have a spa day.

Spa day doesn’t necessarily mean spending a whole day

Spa day can mean spending a whole day at a spa. Spa day can also mean any day or time you set aside to have a spa experience, away or at home. What is a spa experience? It’s a time to unwind, relax, to care for you, the goose. Jumping into the shower just before you dash off to work or other activity doesn’t count. Caring for the goose doesn’t mean deluding yourself into thinking that by gulping down a glass of orange juice because it’s healthy counts.

A spa day, whether an hour or so or a whole day, means really caring for that goose so she can continue to lay those golden eggs for a long long time.

Check out the spa day experiences of the five goddesses in the posts below for ideas on how to have a spa day regardless of your lifestyle. Select the one that most closely matches your lifestyle and read that.

A credit to Stephen R. Covey

Stephen Covey wrote the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. I highly recommend any goddess who doesn’t think she has the time to care for herself to read this book. Covey uses the golden goose analogy and I thought it was so appropriate for many of our goddesses that I decided to share it with you.

Conclusion

A spa day is important in caring for your body and mind. It’s a time to surround yourself with all things beautiful that appeal to your senses. In that experience you can become better grounded, relaxed and able to handle the challenges life throws at you. So, think you don’t have time for a spa day? Think again.

Now go have fun and relax.
