Super Easy Homemade Deodorant Recipe

A homemade deodorant recipe is the way to go if you want to avoid the risks associated with such additives as aluminum.

Using a homemade deodorant won’t prevent you from perspiring, but will keep you smelling wonderful all day.

If you perspire heavily you can protect your clothing with underarm shields. That is a much better and healthier option than using antiperspirants. Our bodies are meant to perspire. It’s one way our bodies eliminate waste products. However, and happily, we don’t have to smell bad.

This homemade deodorant recipe is very easy and quick to make. Give it a try. I’ve included in this post a couple of recipes to try.

There are other essential oils you can substitute for those I recommend such as anise seed oil, geranium oil, sandalwood, sage and coriander. However, some should be used with a degree of caution so if you substitute, read the precautions.

  1. Hello there Guest,

When you say carbon, I’m assuming you mean using activated charcoal. If this is what you mean, I would advise against using it in light of its propensity to stain.

Now for your second question about using carnuaba wax or shea butter. I would not recommend carnuaba wax as it can clog pores. Shea butter would be fine to try.

If you are having trouble with natural deodorants, you might want to see if the cause is related to your diet.

Hope this helps. Be sure and let us know how your home made deodorant experiments work out for you.

    Cordially,

    Vic

  2. Sorry I completely missed this question, but better late than never.

There are two reasons you will not have to worry about the bergamot. 1. The concentration of bergamot is very small and 2. Unless you walk around in the sun with your arms over your head, the small amount of bergamot on your body will not be exposed to the sun.

If you have remaining fears, you can always substitute goldenseal instead of bergamot. Keep in mind that you should run an allergy test for anything you use on your skin whether commercial ore home made.

    1. Good morning and thanks for the question.

I wouldn’t expect any spotting from this recipe, however I would let the deodorant dry before putting on a shirt or blouse. Actually, the same precaution should be taken when using commercial brands of deodorant.

    1. I don’t think that the vodka odor will be a problem. The initial smell of vodka, which dissipates rapidly anyway, will be well masked by the essential oils.
