Scent of a Goddess – Easy Custom Perfume

Anybody can go down the store and buy a perfume so they can smell exactly like everybody else that’s wearing that scent. Why not create a scent using natural essential oils that is uniquely you? In this post I’m giving you one simple recipe and then some pointers on how to change it so it a totally unique scent. It will be exclusively yours. One goddess, one unique scent.

Here’s the basic essential oil perfume recipe

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons jojoba oil

5 drops of top note essential oil(s) of choice

12 drops of middle note essential oil(s) of choice

20 drops of base note essential oil(s) of choice

Instructions:
Add all ingredients to a bottle, tightly cap and allow at least two days for the oils to blend (a week is better). Dab a little on your wrists, back of your knees and neck when it’s time to put them on. Such a happy goddess you will be.
Now for the fun part – selecting the essential oils to use

I recommend starting out simple and expanding your collection of oils over time so that you can cust.om create a new perfume for any occasion and any season. For now, we’re going to start you out with a floral and oriental blend. Always take good notes when you’re creating your perfume. You don’t want to end up having to start over when you find that totally awesome scent because you can’t remember the blend.

You can start with just three essential oils and add others later to create ever more exotic scents.

Floral blend

  • Top note – rose, bergamot, neroli, lemon, lime, rosemary and orange
  • Middle note – ho wood, rose geranium
  • Base notes: jasmine, ylang ylang, vetiver, benzoin

Oriental blend

  • Top note – lemon, lime, mandarin
  • Middle note – frangipani, rose otto
  • Base notes – jasmine, ylang ylang, vetiver, sandalwood, tonka bean

The essential oils included for these two perfumes are a mere beginning to the scents you can make, but they are beginnings. Now we’ll discuss creating blends. If you noticed in the basic recipe, what you actually have is a basic one top note to two middle notes to four base notes. There’s absolutely nothing written in stone that you have to stick to this ratio either. Go ahead and have fun experimenting with it. The only thing you should remember is that your base notes are those with the longest holding power.

To test a blend before you mix it, grab a box of q-tips. Count out the number of q-tip to match the number of oils you will be using in your blend. For instance, if you are using only one top note, one middle note and one base note, you would: Add 1 drop of your top note to a q-tip. Place the q-tip in a bottle. Add 2 drops of your middle note oil and place it in the bottle with your top note. Finally, add 4 drops of your base note and add it to the bottle. Cap off the bottle and give it a shake then remove the lid and sniff. For more complex blends, you follow the same procedure, but adjust to get the right ratios of oils. Just be sure and use a new q-tip for each one of the new oils you use and write down each formula. Play with it until you get the scent you want. It’s a lot of fun.

Conclusion

Imagine your getting ready to go out on a date with someone special or there’s a special occasion coming up. You’ve bought a brand new outfit and you look stunning. Now imagine yourself applying the custom essential oil perfume you’ve made just for the occasion. It’s exotic and scrumptious and everyone wants to know what scent you’re wearing so they can go buy some. Imagine that. How cool.

Now go have fun and relax.
