Super Easy Homemade Shampoo

There’s nothing better than to have exactly what you want in a beauty creation that doesn’t cost a fortune and works. Homemade shampoo is easy to make and can be adjusted according to your needs with the addition of the appropriate carrier and essential oils.

3 homemade shampoo recipes:

Dry hair shampoo recipe

¼ cup distilled water

¼ cup unscented liquid Castile soap

½ teaspoon coconut oil

3 drops of any of the following essential oils: Clary sage, myrrh, peppermint.

Normal hair shampoo recipe

¼ cup distilled water

¼ cup unscented liquid Castile soap

½ teaspoon jojoba oil

3 drops of any of the following essential oils: lavender, chamomile, Clary sage.

Oily hair shampoo recipe

¼ cup distilled water

¼ cup unscented liquid Castile soap

½ teaspoon jojoba oil

3 drops of any of the following essential oils: basil, lemon, patchouli, rosemary, tea tree, ylang ylang, Clary sage.

Instructions:


Mix ingredients together and pour into a bottle. This homemade shampoo isn’t as heavy as the store bought variety so keep that in mind when

you use it. However, it will lather nicely. Be sure and shake the bottle before using because you’re mixing oil and water without an emulsifier.

This homemade shampoo is so easy to make, you can almost create it on an as needed basis. You can also double the basic recipe of Castile liquid soap and distilled water and vary the recipe depending on the needs of other family members.

      If I were buying a shampoo, I’d probably try Nature’s Gate Herbal daily cleansing shampoo, but I would use a good conditioner with it.

      That said, why don’t you make your own? It’s really easy and better for your hair.

    1. Thank you for the question. Liquid Castile soap can be found at some pharmacies, hobby stores and online. Jojoba oil can be purchased in some hobby stores, online and right here at SpaFromScratch. Click on the Organic Oils tab at the top of your screen then click on carrier oils.
