How to Feel Young at Any Age

Okay, so you’ve added years to your life, maybe even a lot of years, but the number of years you’ve lived doesn’t mean you need to feel old. I bet you didn’t know that by feeling old, you can actually make yourself look older. Now we don’t want that to happen. Why give those wrinkles help? Guaranteed wrinkles need no help!

If you really want to beat away that “elderly person” feeling, there are a few things you need to do. Don’t panic, I’m not going to tell you to do stuff that’s hard. In fact, these things are so easy and will make such a difference in your life, you’ll be amazed.

Find mixed groups that interest you.

Okay, so you’re not a social bud. That’s okay. The group doesn’t have to be huge, but it has to have a variety of ages. The other day while sipping a latte with an old friend, I couldn’t help but notice that everyone in the coffee shop was having coffee with someone near to his or her own age. That’s to be expected because people our own age are our peers, but as you get older, the conversations often are limited to the interests of that specific age group. To mix it up a bit try out the following ideas

  • You can go to coffee or shopping with your kids or grandkids
  • Offer free tutoring lessons (tutoring is in demand these day, particularly if it’s free)
  • Like to garden? Join a garden club in your area.
  • Are you interested in cooking? How about having a monthly buffet dinner with nearby people who also like to cook?
  • How about the environment, animal rights or other causes? There’s a host of like minded groups that would welcome you.
  • If you have a dog, take him or her to the local dog park. You’ll meet really nice people of all ages there.

The diet and exercise connection

There’s nothing like poor diet, dehydration and poor blood flow to your body’s cells to make you feel as old as dirt. Be proactive with your health. It’s critical to feeling young.

Relax

There is little that ages you faster than stress. Learn to relax and let the world go by on occasion. There are assorted techniques for doing this including breathing exercises, meditation and exercise. If stress is a problem for you, make solving that a priority your to do list.

Add excitement to your life

Remember the good old days when you were a kid? If not look back to that time and try and remember how excited you would get over the smallest things.  What would make you excited again? Would a new friendship or relationship do it? How about fanning the flames on your existing relationships? How about something as simple as trying out a new anti-aging serum? Maybe a trip to a masseuse will get you glowing. An adventure to a new place is also an option. Take a class at your local college. Do whatever it takes to spark excitement in your life. Try new things!!!

Watch your thoughts

A life full of negative thoughts can make you feel and look old. As you go through your day, watch the thoughts that dance through your head. How many of them are negative? Your awareness of these thoughts will automatically bring about positive change.

Give

Most of us give. We sit down and write a check to our favorite charity. It’s usually more satisfying is to give in other ways. Maybe you donate some time to your local humane society. You might spend some time visiting shut-ins or folks living in a nursing home. You can play Santa’s helper at Christmas and deliver gifts to local families. Thanksgiving is a great time to deliver a turkey dinner to a family not as fortunate as you are.

There’s a million ways to give and giving is one of ingredients in the happiness formula. If you are happy, you will feel young and vibrant regardless of your age.

Shop

Don’t shop as a means to make yourself happy. That is just a way to spend money you don’t have on things you don’t want or need. When I say shop, I mean to update your wardrobe. Get rid of the old tired clothes and undergarments. Spruce up and feel young.

Make up and hair

You might think about sporting a new hair style or wearing your make up even if you’re just hanging around the house. This can be an enormous way to feel younger and more beautiful.

Avoid friends and family that add years to your life

If you have a friend or family member who is constantly reminding you of how old you are by telling you that you’re too old to do this or that, put that person on a shelf for the time being. If you listen to him or her, it’s guaranteed you’re going to end up feeling ancient and disabled.

Okay go out there and feel young regardless of how old you are. Remember, you’re an awesome one of a kind person with unimaginable talents. Sometimes you’re the only one that needs convincing.

Now go have fun and relax.
